The Manuscript Hall of the M.M. Central State Library houses a rare and valuable collection of ancient manuscripts, handwritten texts, and historic documents that reflect the region’s rich literary and cultural legacy. Carefully preserved and cataloged, these manuscripts provide invaluable insights into traditional knowledge systems, languages, and artistic expression from different periods of Punjab’s history.[1]

The Skanda Purana is the largest and one of the most important of the eighteen major Puranas (Mahapuranas) in Hinduism. The Puranas are a vast genre of religious texts that cover a wide range of topics, including cosmology, mythology, genealogies of gods and kings, and descriptions of holy places.
Before the widespread use of paper in India (around the 13th-14th century), the primary medium for writing and preserving important texts was the palm leaf.[4]
The Zafarnama was written by Guru Gobind Singh. Its context is one of profound betrayal and immense personal loss for the Guru.
Aurangzeb, going against his own commitment, assassinated Guru Gobind Singh's family. It was in this state of apparent worldly defeat, yet immense spiritual strength, that he wrote the Zafarnama, not as a plea for mercy, but as a moral indictment of Emperor Aurangzeb's treachery and a declaration of the ultimate victory of truth and justice.[5][6]
The Baznama, which literally translates from Persian as the "Book of Falcons" or "Book of Hawks," is not a single book but a genre of manuscripts and treatises dedicated entirely to the art and science of falconry.
These manuals were highly prized in the Persianate world, from Iran and Central Asia to the Indian subcontinent, especially during the eras of the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire.[7][8]
The Aja'ib al-Makhluqat, or "Wonders of Creation," is a famous 13th-century encyclopedia written by the Persian scholar Zakariya al-Qazwini.
It is a collection of knowledge about the entire cosmos, divided into two parts: celestial wonders (like angels, stars, and planets) and terrestrial wonders (covering geography, minerals, plants, and animals). The book is most famous for its detailed descriptions of both real animals and mythical beasts like the Roc and the Griffin.[9]
Shabd Ved - Compilation (Samhita) of all vedas including the Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, Atharvaveda.
